Rich Fryling, Head Instructor, currently holds the rank of Godan (5th degree black belt) in Shinshin Toitsu Aikido and Joden in Ki Development. He is a certified Associate Lecturer and Assistant Examiner with Ki no Kenkyukai, Headquarters in Japan. While attending Furman University, he began studying in 1989 as a student of David Shaner Sensei, Nanadan (7th degree black belt) and Chief Instructor of the Eastern Ki Federation. Fryling Sensei was also an instructor at the South Carolina Ki Society. Fryling Sensei works as Managing Director at Product of the Year USA in Manhattan.
Nathan Patton, Assistant Head Instructor, currently holds the ranks of Sandan (3rd degree black belt) in Shinshin Toitsu Aikido and Shoden in Ki Development. Patton Sensei is a graduate of Furman University where he trained under David Shaner Sensei, Nanadan (7th degree black belt) and Chief Instructor of the Eastern Ki Federation in Greenville, SC. In 2004, Patton Sensei competed in the World Cup of Aikido in Tochigi, Japan. He won a silver medal. Patton Sensei has taught Ki-Aikido in Greenville, SC, New York, NY, and Newark, NJ. He is currently the Dean of Instruction at People's Prep Charter School in Newark.

As Dean of Instruction at People’s Prep, Nathan has incorporated Aikido classes directly into curriculum and has already exposed hundred’s of kids to the principles of Shinshin Toitsu Aikido. As the program builds, Nathan will be in a position to invite community members to participate in classes as well.
